Ringing at 'The Parish' (04/12/05)

Sunday 4th December - Today members of YMSCR rang the bells (6, tenor 9-0-4 in Ab) at 'The Parish', a bar/restaurant in the converted former York church of St John. Many of us remember ringing here when the building was bordering on derelict, and it is nice to see it so excellently restored.

Ringing here today was an unusual and memorable experience, to say the least! The ropes fall in the area behind the bar counter, and we rang whilst staff were serving, watched by many of the bar's customers. The bells were rung up individually, following which we rang some call changes and Bob Doubles, then rang them down again. Much favourable comment was received, and we hope to ring the bells occasionally in the future.

We would like to express our thanks to the owner of the building, Nigel Cooper, for allowing us to ring.
